So every now and then we get artists that want us to review their music, recently we received an email and I just had to get this review out. One thing that I love about the new artists coming up these days would be that they aren’t afraid to take their music back to when music was still considered music. As a fan of the “Old Time” Rock-N-Roll, I received an email from a new artist who doesn’t seem to care what the critics say. He is the type of artist that brings the music to the core. When you think of classic rock, you could be thinking about 80’s rock and/or you could be thinking about the 70’s rock which would be The Mamma’s and The Pappas, The Beachboys and others. Well this artist is one of those artists that remind me of them. Now I know what you are thinking right now, “Who is this artist?”, well, the artist I am speaking about would be none other than the singer/songwriter Peter DeCurtins.
Mr. DeCurtins has a new album out called Has Been Never Was. His site pretty much labels it as it sounds and here is what they say about it.
Has Been Never Was
7 songs – 3 covers and 4 originals – form the introductory mini-LP debut release from this retro roots inspired rock and roll singer-songwriter. The sound reverberates with overtones of power pop, country-tinged rock, and oldies R&B and soul.
Here is the track listing :
- Wonderful World
- Devil Behind
- Something in Between
- Each and Every Day
- Dead Flowers
A 7 song EP isn’t bad, but what I don’t like about it is the fact that it makes me want to hear more. He has a way of writing and singing that makes you want to listen to his songs over and over again. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of him before. As the review on his site stated, he has a bit of country in his songs. One song that is very noticeable would be his last song, MARY. Most likely one of my favorite songs on the album.
I honestly love this guys music, he def has a way about singing that you don’t hear in most artists these day. This ain’t the typical listening of music. You have to sit down in your living room and soak up each track, hell go get a bottle of wine with your spouse and just relax. Hearing each track with be a breath of fresh air for your ears. Trust me, you won’t regret listening nor buying this mini-ep. It will be well worth the money you spend. Plus, for you older folks, this music might just be the cure for you and your other half if there has been a dry spell. Hell, Peter should secretly call this EP, Secret Viagra, due to the stimulant tones.
