Our Recommended Music Podcast: Song Exploder

“A podcast where musicians take apart their songs, and piece by piece, tell the story of how they were made.”

The music podcast Song Exploder is hosted, produced and edited by Hrishikesh Hirway, a musician who also does his own project, The One AM Radio, and creates remixes for other artists. Inspired by listening to isolated tracks of songs, along with a love of editing and for stories about problem-solving, Hrishikesh brings us a 5-10m podcast with the stories of the song creation, step by step told by the musicians themselves.

Song Exploder launched January 1, 2014, as part of the Maximum Fun podcast network, which is a listener-supported collection of shows that also includes The Memory Palace, Judge John Hodgman, and NPR’s Bullseye with Jesse Thorn. New episodes come out twice a month.
